I gotta agree with Dan on this one. I think the rep points and OTBS status are helpful to the new folks when it comes to judging the credibility of the information. I mean, let's face it, every once in awhile someone answers a question with some ridiculous off the wall comment based on opinion and not experience, which sometimes are downright dangerous.. Usually a more experienced member will come along and correct them, but without the "added credentials" that rep points and OTBS logo provides, it's sometimes a crap shoot.

Having said all of that, I fully realize that there may also be new members here who have been smoking for years and years and may have just recently discovered the forum. But it shouldn't take long for those members' posts to be recognized with "points" giving them credibility as well. I also realize that just putting up a lot of posts will earn you points. But I think most of the members with tons of points got them from other members and not just by post pumping.

You need to use common sense when seeking advice. I've received excellent input from people with no status, and poor advice laced with attitude from some of those OTBS "experts".

Usually when someone takes the time to answer a question around here, the advice is solid regardless of rank.

Are you referring to the green highlight to your name to reflect the premier status? If so, and you're an OTBS member, you can have either the green color to reflect premier status, or bold dark blue to reflect OTBS status. From the appearance of your name it's set to reflect OTBS status.

I'm also a premier member and member of the OTBS and see the dark blue color took precedence (which is fine to me). If having your name reflect "premier status" is important then may I suggest putting it in your sig line?

I don't know if I had any green tiles...aside from the ones in my entryway...but those of us who've been around a while, but not long, know youse guys by reputation. After all, anybody taking a screen name from Stephen King's best works, with a tribute to WZ is obviously someone from whom to seek answers...or drugs, one.
I'm just glad SMF has come back. There is a master list of OTBS detainees...er Knights, and the kinda newbies will make sure the new questions get routed to those of you whose midi-chlorians are high or off the scale...(feel free to ask!)
How were tiles awarded/earned/passed on? Did you look on craigslist? (ok. sorry for that one too...)

OK I been trin to stay outta this one. But I guess I cant.
My post count and rep points were finally gettin up to a respectable level. Took long enough cause Im not joinin in as often as some do. Well I dropped a lot and so did everyone else. So what. I guess Ill hafta try harder. As for OTBS.... Well without a camera I wont ever wear that badge of honor. Not at SMF anyway...My family and friends are all Im really concerned about anyway. They dont care about green tiles, just good "Q".

Oh by the way, Glad were back. Hope some of the others will rejoin us soon.
