After my first smoke on my new char-broil american gourmetdelux the paint started peeling off

Yep, common on cheaper offsets like charl broil, brinkman, and chargriller (which I have). I keep a can of high heat rustoleum on hand, and after firebox cools dust off the chips and spray over area. Do it every couple smokes.
