Hi I just joined, I wanted to comment on a thread. I have a home made UDS that I been using and I just bought master forge vertical propain smoker with two doors. I have only smoked a few things. Brisket, pork butt, turkey and pork loin. Now I am gonna try to make jerky. I ordered some food grade adhesive and some normex gasket material for the doors. And I seasoned it. Didnt have any problems getting it to 300F and I got it as low as 190F after it was preheated. Seem like its gonna be a good smoker.
I bought the vertical one cuz I was having a hard time holding temps over 220F in my uds. Turns out my temp probe was malfunctioning. Which is why the turkey cooked so fast. Turn out real good but turkeys can handle 300F
I am not much of a cook I Google everything and youtube is my best tool.
