Put my MB 560 on Marketplace for free. it was a circus, and its gone.
You think that's bad I'm thinning the herd of fishing gear in a couple weeks in a yard sale. The bucket brigade folks will show up like an invasion but everything will be gone in about 5 minutes.

Question.
Why for free? And what didn’t you care for about. The cooker?
Well it was 5 years old. showing MB rust. already had switch problems and I'm a Kettlehead now.
It actually made pretty good Q but ate charcoal like an Eldorado drank gas.

Fair enough.
I actually know a couple people wanting to move away or past the MB specifically because of the charcoal consumption. Good meats but hardly efficient.

Good concept, but poor execution from MB as far as longevity and fuel consumption. I had considered buying one when they first came out.

I was in that same camp, just about pulled the trigger a couple times but people claimed lot of charcoal usage.

True, but considering that most all gravity fed charcoal cookers are well insulated and sealed, it’s not hard to understand the problem with MB. Great concept but pretty poor execution.

I agree with John, run a kettle instead. Much more efficient.

Try selling eggs. I almost got banned from FB for selling live animals on marketplace. How?
"Well it might be alive at some point", maybe lol. I don't keep any roosters in my flock, so there is that ..........

No roosters here either. So now I give eggs away to friends and family.

I like my MB 800, does eat coals but produces good food. When it rusts out I will probably get some sort of pellet gadget. I also don't use the kettles nearly as often as I should.

MB uses fan speed to control temps and that burns a lot of fuel. I only smoked with mine and never ran it over 300* . Pellet smokers use the amount of fuel supplied for temp control.

But yes, the insulation is the primary factor. My Assassin GF is insulated like a kamado. Takes very little air. And that can be a plus in using charcoal, but its a minus when it comes to air flow through the cooker. I liked the good air flow through the MB.

I bought my MB on sale at Walmart for $200. Sold it for $250 three years later. It sold quickly, within a couple hours on Facebook Marketplace.
