Got my bluegill from Walleye Direct. Still completely frozen. They do an amazing job. I got couple pounds Bluegill on my last order and just loved them. They now my favorite fish to fry. Got 11 lbs. in 1 lb packages. Not sure why they didn't have the 5 lb in stock? I know their fish is expensive but its cheaper than going with a guide and can't get most their fish around here.

Oh man that is awesome!

The Sunfish family of fish (Bluegill, Crappie, etc.) seem to always be the tastiest fish!!!! Eat well my friend :D

Bluegill are delicious. Have been eating them since I was old enough to catch them. Wish I had a good spot for some big ones but don't anymore.

I don't even fish. Haven't in 30÷ years. Just remember catching them constantly. People i know who still fish toss more back than they keep.

I get into a few eating size when I'm catching them for bait but never enough to keep. Most of the ones we get into here are smaller than hand size. Every great once in a while I catch one that might top a pound but man they are few and far between. I catch more 40+ lb catfish than I catch gill over 8-10 oz.

They are tasty little buggers though.

When I was around 10 I fished my great aunts pond a lot. There were some nice big gills and bass. They had me harvest all the small bluegills I would catch to insure they didn't overpopulate and stunt. She would cut the heads off, scale and gut them then pressure cook them all for fish patties. They were AMAZING!

bluegill have a taste all their own for sure. lakes full of them here. id hate to think of all them i have eaten in my life. lol i see they leave skin on. the skin and bones(whole fish fried) gives you more flavor.

thats interesting about the pressure cooking! ill have to read up on that! i love me some fish patties. if she was using the bones and all, it would be very nutritious. lots of cologne in them. i scrub and boil heads and carcasses to make my fish stew. it will jell up when cooled it has so much cologne in it. its the only way i have to get the fish stock to make it good.

Best tasting fish ever...in my heyday I could eat a dozen of them, straight out of the water and into the grease, with a short stop in the corn meal!
