Something goofy is happening to my Alert Notifications (the numbers in the little red box on my profile picture in the upper right corner). Normally when I open the forum and click the 'Home' tab, my alert numbers might be a 6 or 7 and show me new posts to threads I posted, or threads I have posted in, or ones I'm following... but once I scroll through the alerts, the notifications return to 0. For a week or more my alerts are numbering in the 60's, and show activity for 4 or 5 days previous. Did some settings change?

I’m having the same issue. Mine is showing 217 right now. It also has recent on the top of the list and bottom.

Wow. So almost 200 clicks to go now. That’s not the greatest. This’ll start looking my Gmail account with 10000 emails chilling..

I had the same issue and it took a minute to figure it out. All you have to do is click "mark read" in the middle at the bottom of the drop-down box and it will clear all of them out and reset back to zero. I also had ones from a long time ago showing up (hundreds of them) but that only lasted a day or so and it fixed itself....somehow.

It's been going on for days. Clicking "mark read" at the bottom makes the red number go away but the list is still there.
(I only have 25 now. A bunch went away yesterday for some reason)
A couple of days ago I did it and logged off and when I logged back in they were gone, but it doesn't work now.
I even closed my browser and tried again.
I guess it's not a huge deal but it is annoying....

I had to reset it so they stopped sending emails for everything .
To many in the inbox , and if you don't open them or just delete , Gmail thinks it's spam .

I set mine up to email replies to a conversation or threads I create .

It used to sort them by day . Any prior alerts were archived and accessed by choosing " show all "

I've had this problem for days, and it is a problem.
Mine was up to 190, and ready to explode :emoji_wink: when gmc2003 gmc2003 told me how to take it back to Zero. Right now I'm back up to 125.
So I used to be able to look there & see how many I haven't dealt with yet. Now I have no idea---All I know is I got "This" many unread, since I last turned it back to Zero. That tells me nothing helpful.
My biggest question is when everything is going fine for many months, why does it have to be screwed with.
The same thing used to happen in my Garage. Everything would go fine all year, until Mrs Bear would move in there & do her "Spring Cleaning". Then I could no longer find anything, until I got it straightened out, which would take almost up to the Next "Spring Cleaning" time.
Solution: No more Spring Cleanings---Fix only what's Broken.

Just My 2 Piasters,

Bear

Thanks all for the replies. Funny thing from this morning, I was up to 83, but when I scrolled through the 10 or 12 new ones (without clicking any of them) my number went down into the 70's. Using the 'Mark as Read" button did eliminate the red box. GREAT!! It looks like the posts still in the list are within a day, so maybe some will drop off the list as new ones are added.

I know the feeling. Mrs ~t~ moved my only 1/4" drive, long barrel 5/16" socket about 6 months ago. It has yet to turn up. :emoji_laughing:

I went into preferences and marked all the 127 alerts as read, didn't do any good, all still there. Give them time, it'll get fixed, or not. RAY

So, since my last forum visit, I had two notifications (your 'like' and your 'reply' above) and my red number was a '2'. So far so good.

Like you, when I opened the list A bunch older ones were still there, however.... the notifications from the 'like' and 'reply' were at the bottom of the list instead of being at the top. Obviously a bug.

Thinking somebody might have mentioned this already...

And they still are not clearing out...

Hah Hah it pays to be a scab on this site. My alerts are working just fine. LOL. Non Premier members rejoice.

Thanks Robert.
I’ve been trying that all day and it worked the first few times. Now it’s back to not working again. All the same messages are in there from past two days snd my count is at 160 and staying strong there.

Yup, My power just came back on, and I currently have 140 alerts on my list.
However the two have nothing to do with each other.
