first off i must say this thing rocks and does what it is supposed to! that being said please verify that the probes are calibrated correctly. i took for granted that it should have been done before getting to me and turns out it was off by 10 degrees. it still did it's job but 10 degrees too cool. 

just an FYI.

The probes of a Guru can be recalibrated if they are off.  It's in section 14 of the user DigiQ manual.  If you don't have one, here is a link to a PDF:

It's always a good idea to verify the accuracy of any new temp measurement device.  I even checked my Thermopen when I got it. 
i've done that earlier. to my credit in the manual (that i actually read) it said that these are calibrated already. and i took that for granted. no big deal, i just wanted others to check upon arrival so they don't run into the same situation that i did. i did an overnight smoke and had factored in 4 hours of time and ran out of it quickly.
