We are traveling to meet up with our daughter for Mother’s Day and our daughter’s birthday. First visit for over a year. I received meal requests, and have been slaving over a warm smoker all week.

It started off with Jerky v4.0. I’m getting closer to the right recipe. It is amazing what a couple of days can do to improve the taste. When it first came out of the smoker, I was disappointed, the taste was flat. After a couple of days, a richness has developed. It’s pretty darned good.

Next was the pork butt and burnt ends. We now have a refrigerator full of delicious pulled pork. I can’t wait to add sauce! I have proven, if a person reads enough posts on this forum, you can actually learn to cook.

I also made another batch of trail mix with the jerky. I’m getting requests for more, so I must be getting close to right.

Today, I made tri-tip and a ribeye. I smoked and reverse seared both of them. The ribeye will be sliced for sandwiches and the tri-tip is Sunday dinner. I had a hell of a time with the smoke, I can’t sample anything!

Have a great weekend!
