My neighbors thing I’m crazy mainly because I’m ocd with our driveway being clean and also bc no matter how cold it is I’m still using my Webber. This time we did wings with the vortex. they turned out great. Some were just SPOG some I did with a brown sugar based rub which I honestly didn’t care for. For me brown sugar probably won’t go on chicken again I tried it for a beer can chicken and didn’t care for it. But I also threw on 4 of GFS roasted wings which I love in the fryer just to try and they turned out great too. Lots of different sauces bc everyone in my family likes something different haha. But even in about 10* weather the Vortex kept the kettle thermometer pegged out! Although I got nervous and added a few coals about 25 minutes in. Tossed a piece of hickory on and added some good flavor. Now just need to figure out what we’re doing tonight. Here’s some pics.

Looks like a darn good plate to me! Let the neighbors think what they will. I'd be right out there with ya, waiting on my wings to come off the grill.

Wow...just wow!! The determination of being out in that weather alone is noteworthy. Turning out some amazing food just ups the ante a bunch. Great job!!

Awesome looking wings. Join the club. My neighbours think I’m crazy also. -28 Celsius with the wind chill factor and I’m out getting my smoker ready for tomorrow. Nothing gets in the way of a real smoker lol.

Darn fine looking wings! And a great way to keep the neighbors wondering about your sanity lol! Funny how cold temps feel freezing at beginning of winter turns into light jacket weather by mid winter!

Agree 100% about brown sugar (on any meat)...so not a sweet-meat fan. About as far as I can go is a little bit of spicy-sweet BBQ sauce. (FWIW - I gave up sugar about 12 years ago - lost 80 pounds in the process - now the least little bit is like crazy sweet for me.)

The wings look great! Wings are definitely a labor of love...right up there with deviled eggs.

Thanks everyone. I’ll have to give that sugar a try. Trying to figure out what we’re eating tonight haha

Some fine looking yardbird wings and well worth standing out in the cold, Like! I nice assortment of dippin' sauces too! I'm tossing around Vortex thighs for tonight. RAY
