Grill chicken wings with a diy "vortex"

I must have been under a living under a rock for awhile, because I just recently learned about the vortex. Being cheap, an not really knowing if it would fit my need, I went the diy route. By cutting the bottom out of a large dog bowl.

The main reason for teying this was for chicken wings an trying to get that crispy skin.

Can't really say for sure if it was the result of the"vortex" clone. But I will be using this technique a lot more in the near future

Great Cook! Hmmm...I have an old stainless steel bowl with a hole in the bottom. I know what I can repurpose it for now. Thanks for posting. The ole weber grill at the deer camp will be getting a diy vortex now.

I used a #10 can way before the vortex was ever invented. I can't take credit for it though, I saw a lady at a farmers market using one to grill oysters , and thought man is that slick. I went dumpster diving behind a pizza joint to grab a couple of empty cans to have on hand. LOL!!!
