This was a sight 2 nights ago on my island. All that's missing is a BBQ setup with people enjoying the view, quaffing ale. I love my volcanic, earthquake prone island more than anywhere else I've ever been!

I'd love to be there in 10-12 days to see the Perseids meteor showers.
I can only imagine how wild it must be with your dark skies, this year there won't be any moon visible, so it will be epic!!!

I might sit out between 10pm and midnight right here on my west lanai. There is zero ground light anywhere around to pollute the darkness.

We have a ton of light pollution, and we see a bunch sitting in our hot tub. If you're awake, early AM is when we've seen the most here
in CA that's 1AM to 4AM.

There's an arbor roof over our hot tub, so a lot of sky is blocked. Recliners on the beachrock stone deck is the best, with adult beverages to sip, of course.

I've cooked hotdogs on a stick over red lava. that's still something...:D

Things to do while in Kona!!!

And meet up with Rich for a cold one !!! One of my favorite hot weather bbq beere is Kona Bag Wave, I'll be drowning myself in! He stuff qnd the brewery.

Last night we saw 16 satalights and 3 good sized meteors, from our hot tub.
No lava though. LOL!!!

Last evening a gecko pooped on my head as I enjoyed a soak in the 81 degree evening looking at a cruise ship go by with lights blazing. "I'd rather be here", I thought to myself as I sipped my Scotch.
