try putting an in line valve to control the air from the pump

Like the others said, throttle the sir down and you may not even need the pump, after it gets going.

On some pumps, if you restrict it too much you can burn out the pump.  You may have to put a "Y" or "T" inline and dump the air that way.

Most likely does not run, but I have thought about making a dedicated cold smoker out of a working mini fridge.

Waiting for garage sale season to find a cheap working fridge.
