Might one of these work?

I've came up with a way to turn my current grill to a smoker, but I'm not sure if these will work.  2 or 3 would work best for ease of use and ability to avoid having to reset everything every time I add more wood chips or flip meat.  However i'm not sure that the current of smoke works this way.  Advice welcomed please.

Smoke wont go down, only up.

ok, so I changed my design and put it to use. got an electric burner, the only thing is, I kept having to use my gas burner inside the grill to keep the temp up or else it would drop below 200* I tried sealing all the vents in the grill that didn't help. also, I had quite a bit of fire in the pan. should I be soaking my wood before smoking so I get more of a smoldering effect? any advice is welcomed

oh, I was using large chunk wood too, does that make a difference?

Your Smoke generator you've made will supply plenty of smoke, but you will still have to use your gas burners as your heat source for actual cooking temps. if you have a 4 burner,you can try a sheet of metal under the cooking grates over the burners you need to use to maintain your heat needed as indirect heat. or across the heat tents above the burners.

I don't mind using gas to heat and just using a generator for smoke.  I'm curious, (for camping without electric purposes,)  would this work?
