I have a Weber charcoal grill. I forget the name. It's a kettle on a cart with a table. :)  And a propane starter that I don't use because the little propane bottles are a PITA to dispose of around here.

Anyways..... I was thinking of either a Weber Genesis gas grill or a Green Mountain pellet grill. I already have a smoker and it works fine. Not sure if those pellet grills can get hot enough to actually grill a steak or whatever. The thought of plugging it in and it holds a certain temp appeals to me. The Weber gas grill is just, well... cause it's a Weber and the higher priced ones seem to last well. Looks like I'm in the $900 range either way. plus or minus a bit.

Anyone got any other suggestions? The local Gander Mountain has a Blue Ember grill on sale and it's substantially less than the Weber or Green Mountain but I don't want another throw-away. I'd like something that will last a while.

All input welcome.

thanks

Charlie

i have a weber genesis. it's a tank. had mine for 5 year and not a blemish. i did buy the weber grill cover. also pricey but has stood up to the ever changing 4 season of chicago. there are cheaper grills with better features but they won't last like a weber. I normally buy a new cheap grill every 3-5 yrs. my Neighbor has a spirit(or something like that) weber grill that is 15yrs old. so it's more than a name, it's quality.

just my .02c. I love my gas grill because I can get food on and off in a hurry but i covert a ceramic "egg" type to go along with it. :)

I have the Weber genesis E 330. ABSOLUTELY love it. It's only 8 months old, but is holding up extremely well. I have the Natural gas version, so no tank to deal with. It also has a sear station (an extra burner between 2 of the main ones) for extra heat when doing steaks, chops etc... I can get the heat in the 600 degree range on the lid thermo, so you're looking at 700+ at the grate. I think I paid $800 from Lowe's, but got 10% off with a coupon. Was a steal for what it is. I use it no less than 3 times a week, year round.

I will say that if you like sear marks, make sure you go with cast grates. I've never gotten marks on meat like I have with the Weber!

Go with a Weber, They last forever well built and their customer service is excellent, I don't know anything about the other grill companies you mentioned so I can not tell you if they are good or bad, but I owned 2 Weber propane grills and I just replaced my first one last year, the original Weber lasted 12+ years and still worked just wanted to upgrade so I gave my old one to a buddy and he has been using it for the last year so my first Weber is 13 years old and still works.  That's Quality.
