Looking to upgrade my grill and smoker. Both are separate at the moment. Grill is a standard gas fed and smoker is a vertical bradley (7-8) years old. Any recommendations? Budget ~1K... I was looking at the Weber Searwood XL but open to hear experiences and other options such as Recteq.

Best,
J.

Understand the concept of combining for space availability. Those two choices are good ones. Wether a combo unit is a good replacement for two dedicated pieces is an argument for another day.

Weber Searwood XL
Good choice in my opinion . I have the SmokeFire , and one thing it does well is grilling .
It's design is more open than the Searwood , but have heard the Searwood does good as a grill too .

Take a look @ Grilla Grills.

IMO: Offers more then Rec Tec in features.

I really like having two separate units, but that was not the question.

I have a Pit Boss KC Combo that's sub $1000 wood pellets for the smoker side, propane for the grill and griddle side. I like mine a lot.... worth a look if you're in the market.
