So I'm still not sure which Gen MES I have, but the question I have for you guys is the remote. Mine seems to work well for the most part but today while testing my MES to see if it will smoke at low temps, the remote decided to randomly shut off. Once I turned it back on, I had to redo all the settings. Does the remote have some sort of Auto shut off? Or do I have a dud?

Second, first try was at 140, then 150, and I still have no smoke. I'm just using regular pecan chips in the chip loader for now. So my question now is, has anyone got the MES 30 to produce smoke at low temps without going AMNPS??

I would love to just use the chip tray and not have to buy extra stuff.

You won't get much smoke at those low Temps. Some have trouble at 225. I don't. AMNPS is a good thing though. Take care of ALL your smoke problems!
