I have a MES 20070106. It is the one where the whole cabnet gets replaced in order to replace the element. It was givin to me in new condition a few months ago. I am having problems getting up to temp, then recouping after loading. I called Masterbuilt and they sent me a new digital controller. that did not fix it. The cabnet is no longer available so they say there is nothing more  they can do for me. I have taken the back off and removed the element and checked all connections. all looks good. Can I check the element with a ohm meter and see if it is the problem? Same with the heat sensor? there is a dime size sensor midway up in the back, then another sensor towards the top that is just a post sticking thru with 2 wires comming off the same post on it.

Thanks for any help.

After looking things over, some of the connections were loose and a little rusty. I cleaned and tightned things up and fired it up. I set it at max temp, 275. It took 35 minutes to get there. Before it never got there. I opened the door for a minute, temp fell to 260's and started right back up. I know it would be differant if i had put cold meat it. I give it a try and see how it works. Is 35 minutes to get to 275 norm?

Is 35 minutes to get to 275 norm?      Pretty much the norm.... Sounds to me like you are ready to smoke....  take pics and let us know how it goes....

Don't forget to use another therm to check the smoker's actual temps...  Display temps are usually off from the actual temps...
