I light the pellets with a torch and wait at least 10+ minutes until 1/4 of the row is red and then blow out the flame. place tray on bottom left of MEW 40, close door, and it goes out in 1-1.5 hours.
Relight, etc, same thing. Weather conditions do not matter. I'm thinking if I add a chimney might draw more air flow. But I cannot seem to find an easy stack to use.
that is my problem also I can sometimes get the amazen tubes to work...I was told it's my altitude

I've heard that too, but I'm in Ga, and do not think altitude is an issue. The tube and / or the tray, one is for higher altitudes, not sure which.

Tubes I have both and still have problems I built a different mod after trying the mailbox..the tubes work most of the time inside it or I use chunks on a hot plate

Can you tell me what you used for the $8 stack? I have been looking for something to use on my MES 40 Gen 1. BTW I use the side MEW smoke generator, top vent wide open, took smoke chip tray out completely. My only issue is I also use the amazn tray and cannot keep it lit more than an hour at a time. I use it on the bottom left.
Do you find the MB attachment puts out to much smoke I've tried mine twice even with the router control

I used to think it put out too much white smoke, and not the thin blue smoke. Then I read on here to use wood chunks cut down to 1 inch pieces, and fit well in the smoke generator. So I start with a few chips to get it started, then I add the 1 inch size pieces of wood chunks that I cut down from larger sizes, and they make the perfect amount of thin blue smoke. I too have the router control, but have only used it on full, haven't needed to use it on less power. The chunks make fresher and better smoke than the chips.

Do you have it directly to the smoker or with a pipe.. thanks

I have it directly into the smoker. I have seen some with the pipe extension. Not sure if that makes a difference. It probably makes a difference with the mailbox mod, though.

I just open my top vent all the way.
Then I pull my chip dumper out about 2 to 3".
If you can, rotate the dumper 180° too.
Make sure you put the AMNPS on the far right of the bottom rack, just above the chip dumper hole.
BTW: Since your candle isn't over on the right side, near your chip dumper hole, it doesn't matter if air isn't getting to it. That's where your AMNPS & your candle should be.

I'll try that even on my gen 2.5

Mine is a #2.5, and that's exactly what I do.
If that doesn't work, it could be your altitude. If I remember correctly I think you were at about 2000'.

1640...right side on bottom rack..I put a computer fan blowing into the chip dumper doesn't wave the candle flame

I have no idea what I'm looking at.
I see a fan in the bottom of a bucket.
It appears maybe the bucket lid has a hole in the middle.
And the third pic looks like a flame in the middle of a floor.

I gotta go---Be back tomorrow.

My exhaust is on the left hand side. Elbow fitting and 2' piece of duct work.
Mailbox mod; took chip dump out completely, tube fits snuggly in hole. Pull tube off and chip tube is still useable.

Looks like a great setup. I have a Gen 1 and exhaust is on top back right. What dia tube is your stack? And is it just pressed in? Or is it flanged?

I've not thought of trying the AMNPS on the right above the chip dumper hole. On my Gen 1 it would be directly below the top vent, but worth a try as there would be more air to keep it lit longer.
Bear, thanks again. As usual, you're the man!

Thanks, I'll post pics if it turns out well.
I appreciate the advice.
