MES 30 DIGITAL READ OUT

I finally got the new smoker out and seasoned it yesterday and noticed two things. I cant read the digital in the sun without covering it with my hands plus 3/4 of the mesquite chips didnt burn. I put them in for the last 45 minutes of a 3 hour total time.

Any suggestions. Doing my first smoke next weekend. MES 30...too early to type!

I too used to have a MES and had difficulty reading the digital screen. I believe that is an issue with most digital screens in the sun regardless of what smoker they are installed on. As dumb as this sounds just put the smoker in a shady area when it is in use.

As far as the Mesquite chips not burning I cannot help you with that because I never used the chip burner. It was too much of a pain to keep feeding it every 15-20 minutes. I solved that problem by purchasing an A-Maze-N tray and tube and my problems were solved for short and long smokes. Now I have adapted them to my other smokers and they have proven to be very versatile. http://www.amazenproducts.com/category_s/12.htm

There are many posts regarding the best approach as to where to locate the A-Maze-N tray and tube in a MES.
