May I substitute onion flakes for onion powder in a rub?

Don't have onion powder on hand to make a rump roast rub, can I sub onion flakes?

I do all the time. Just run them through a Coffee Grinder, Food Processor or Blender, to make them more granular...JJ

JJ has it!

Many of us have a cheap "coffee grinder" dedicated to our spices.

Good luck and good smoking.

Just use a blade type grinder and not a burr grinder.  Well, I guess a burr grinder would work, but I don't think you could ever use it for coffee again (and burr grinders are usually way more expensive than blade)
