Temp of the water?  How long have they been there?  My experience is that the pit probe will take longer to register a temp than the meat probe?

Be sure both are fully inserted.  My Maverick does not give a distinctive "click" when inserting the wire to the sending unit.  I always have to be sure it is fully inserted.

Also, even the meat probe will be slower to register a temp than an "instant" read therm?

Good luck and good smoking.

Left both probes in cup of cold water for about 1/2 hour. BBQ probe was always about 6 -10 degrees lower then the food probe..
Probes submerged to before the wire
