After some reading and searching in here I attempted to work on my favorite thermometer. BTW I was scared, it is my best one and where would I get another by tomorrows smoke if I killed it.
Step one was take the transmitter apart, not a problem.
Step two was decide that I had enough room and didn't separate all the wires from the two halves, again not a problem so far.
Step three was almost a train wreck, with the coating clean on the board I was to tin and solder the new antenna, this is the point where I reached for the iron and grabbed the hot part. OUCH!!
Step four make a hole and fit the new antenna, piece of cake.
Step five put all the little pieces back in order. I dropped a couple screws but found them and put them in place.
Step five ...........test it......... probe 1 says 68 degrees probe 2 says LLL . YIKES!!
No more steps the rest ran together. LOL
I took it back apart and found the most tiny of tiny wires had broke off, so I had to get my fat fingers in there and solder it back to the probe connection.
All is good now, it works at the computer in the basement and it even works up to 3 houses away.
BTW my finger still hurts a little.
Sorry I didn't take any pics but the links I found on here were spot on perfect.
Hey for anyone that is having reciever trouble with the dual probe this is an easy easy fix.
