Is there a big difference when using pellets vs wood chips? Does one last longer? One give a better smoke ring or taste?

Even if pellets were better I'd still use chips for availability alone. Walmart and every hardware store around has chips.

Actually about 2 months ago I bought a HF chipper for $112 and have been making my own chips by the kitty litter bucket. With chips between $5 and $7 a bag it only takes about $25lbs of chips and I am in the black.
