Looking at the masterbilt electric smokers for when i dont have time fir the weber....any feedback

Search in this section for MES 30 and MES 40. You will get lots of info. I just ordered the 40" from Amazon. Lots of people on here swear by them.

I bought the mes30 about a month ago. Todays cornish hens were the fifteenth smoke session. I have forgotten how to use the grill. I could not be happier for less than $200.

I bought a MES40 about six months ago and really like it They have a great customer service department and the folks on this site will hellp you with any other issues.

Hey guys is there a difference in the smoker at academy compared to bass pro and cabelas? The 40 inch at both cabelas and bps are 400 where as academy has one for 299

Yes, I believe the ones at Bass Pro and Cabelas are a newer model. New model has a bigger window, differant drip pan, rear vent instead of top. Here is alink to a comparison of the two.

Bass Pro and Cabela's have the new model. I have the older MES 40 and couldn't be happier when you pair it with the AMNPS. Only problem I had was my cabinet temp is 20-25* lower than the set temp.

You won't regret buying the MES. Mine is the older 40" from Sam's Club. Got it about the first of November last year.

There are some really good posts here about using the MES (search for MES and posts by DaveOmak). The MES is like anything else new you buy; you have to learn its idiosyncrasies. I'm dumb as a whole box of hammers and it took me a good long while to figure out that the time limit should be set well above what you estimate your cooking time to be or it will turn off the heater and your meat will not be cooked. You also have to set the smoker temperature - as well as the timer - or the heater won't fire. (speaking of the MES40 older model here)

Test your new MES out a bit before you commit to a big smoke to learn its ways and you will be a happy camper.

Just purchased MES 30 with window and remote 20070411. I am having trouble synching the remote with the controller. The remote occasionally works with the controller. Any tips on how to operate the remote or should i say get it to work so i can set the time and the temp.?

Set the Time and Temp with the Remote...The only time you touch the Controller is if you plan to sit at the MES. If you set the Controller then turn on the Remote, the Remote overrides the Controller...JJ

Nothing special, just hit On from the Remote, set Temp, set Time, I usually set for 24.00hrs, and you should see the Heating light come on. If yours is not talking, call customer service, they will sent a new Remote or Controller...JJ
