For some reason it didn't let me describe each picture. The gasket is for a Big Green egg. It comes about 3/4" wide so I cut it in half with scissors. You can see the high temp paint don't match exactly but it looks better than the brown putty. The last picture is my wood chip pan bottom. I'm afraid it is gonna burn a hole in it soon, i have only cooked in it around 10 times. My chips were catching on fire until I started soaking them and wrapping in heavy duty foil.

I was thinking maybe the pan sits too low in the smoker, too close to the fire?

Here are a couple pictures of the PC Fahrenheit putty applied and painted and the green egg felt gasket. I also put some on the door latch brackets but it still leaks a little smoke where the rod goes into the door, but not as bad as it was.

Nicely done. You ever been to the Atlantic Eggfest in PA?

Them Eggheads sure do cook some food.

No never been there. I never seen a Green Egg in action either. I looked at them at Ace Hardware and they look real nice but man I can't afford a cooker with that price lol.

They are nice but not my thing. Guess if you stay with it you will like them. I have a friend that dumped his Offset, MES and Bradley for one.

Thanks for sharing the info, I bought one of these on sale as a replacement based on the threads in here. Definitely burns low and slow with the charcoal, the pan is too small. Tempted to just used the water tray instead, it would double the space. It runs cold and I could put my hand on the top of the unit with white coals in the pan. There is a fine soot inside too, not sure if the charcoal or from the initial burn.

My test burn though seemed to be pretty airtight, I just had some smoke on the doors, that went away with the top vent popped two clicks. I don't have any external body leak issues either, just at the doors a bit, so I might use the gasket seal instead. I did make my own gasket for the "chimney" when I put it together, but the regulater on the gas line, that is great. Never thought of that.

I saw a thread somewhere a guy mounted his on an old hanging pot and pan rack from a kitchen remodel and put wheels on it. Mmm...maybe a movers dolly might work.

Some great info thanks for sharing guys.

Wish me luck doing a turkey on it for the first cook on New Years eve.
