Little update, have only opened about 1/2 dozen cans with it so far but wow ,what an upgrade compared to the old piece I had. No more skipping /slipping like before. Longevity, time will tell but pleased so far.
thats the one I picked up as well. really like it!

So a year later do y’all still like this one from Amazon?

Who is Manuel and why does he have to open all the cans?! :emoji_laughing:

I have an OXO similar to the one Timber II showed. Works well, its the traditional style that leaves a sharp disk but I like that when wanting to drain something while in the can without using a colander/strainer. it has one drawback, or maybe its intentional? It always leave a little tiny pice of metal not cut through, so I have to grab it and twist it a bit to break it loose before placing it back in the can to strain. BUT, this could also be a good feature...keeps the lid from falling right in to the can which can be a pain with stuff like sauce.

Just went and looked . Pampered Chef . Cuts the side of the lid . Also has a bottle opener , " Tab flipper " and a set of " jaws " that grab the lid off the can .
No idea what it cost , but it works good .

We also have this one. Once you figure out how to use it, it works great. It leaves no sharp edges and the lid wont fall in to the can. But it's also harder to use the lid as a strainer stop.

We've been using an oxo for a few years w/o complaints. We also have one of these sitting in our junk draw. It still works great, but it gets forgotten about.

Funny how we have stuff like that we forget about. We have one too, but it comes in handy sometimes because once in a while I get an old school can of something and the one we have has the poky thing on the handle end that punches a triangular hole in a can edge. Before all the plastic bottles, thats how juice was usually containered for shelf stable.

Remember the 64oz cans of tomato juice, Hawaiian Punch, etc.? Yea, shrinkflation has them at 46oz now, like we're all dyslexic and will just read the numbers backwards:emoji_angry:

I have destroyed quite a few can openers in the last few years, and I think its just because things are cheaply built with still rising prices. That said, don't think this broke the bank, but it seems to be taking the beating far better than anything in recent memory.

Since this came back to the top I'll add my limited experiences.
Based on this thread I bought an OXO and like it no more than I've used it and I also bought a Good Cook Safe Cut Manual Can Opener. Haven't used it a lot either but like it too and really appreciate the safe cut edges Plus being able to use the lid as a lid to seal the open can for a little while if I don't use the whole can immediately.

ok you enablers. I'm going all in on the $6 OXO. I have one of those "safety" type that opens the can from the side. It's a pain most of the time, specially with the small 6 oz tomato paste cans. Sharp edges be dammed.

Nope, scratch that. Amazon has it but has to be order through Fresh and has a 9.95 delivery fees, total of 5.00 can opener 21.24. F that.

I had to look this up and see for myself. Very odd, They must be out and the main Amazon warehouse or something. Why would they even offer a whole foods delivery for a can opener? Baffling.
