Major Winter Storm

We ended up with 16 inches of pure fluff in Northern NH, wife took a ham bone out of the freezer and made a huge pot of pea soup. I'm not a fan of it but she and the neighbors polished it off. :)
YUM!! I was always a huge fan of pea soup. Rarely made it as I was the only one in direct and extended family lol.

Amazing how warm 23 and sunny feels after the negative wind chills .
Yup a few days of 0 and below with a little wind will really change a person. The acclimation period can $*<# but then you get to 10-25 above especially with little to no wind and we are back to sweatshirt weather. 20+ with little to no wind and I am a happy camper walking around the ice for fishing. Going into next week we are supposed to be warming up again and the ice fishing gear will be ready to go again.

Where was my invite. I love home-made pea soup.

Make sure you wave to me as you are heading out of the Bay... We're the last port on the left (east) just before you go under the Skyway Bridge... You'll see us...
I'm guessing on the route. If we go that way I'll tip the skipper to give you a "V". That's three shorts followed by a long. Think Bach Beethoven's fifth, di, di di, dah...

Yea...If your sailing out of Tampa there's only one route out of the Bay... It goes right by me... It will be Seaport Manatee ...

I got 12-15” here in north-central Jersey, mostly snow but a bit of sleet . As a native Minnesotan I still laugh when people around here say “it’s so cold out” 🤪 Anyhow, my wife made up a nice cottage pie (shepherd’s pie with ground beef) which was delicious as well as a big pot of beef stew. Unfortunately no amount of cooking made that beef tender 🙁 It was still slightly frozen when I browned it up, maybe that was the issue? 🤔

I so ready to get out of the house!!! I miss my river. Not sure about today as still a lot ice on roads but maybe tomorrow. I afraid grocery store parking lots may be an ice rink for a while? May have to try Walmart pickup to get my carrots and cabbage for my corned beef.

We got a little bit of snow here over Saturday night, but it was quickly washed away by a steady rain and rising temps on Sunday. Now looking ahead to this weekend it doesn't look like we're going to skirt the snowfall. Guess we'll wait and see. The usual idiots emptied the shelves of basic sundries etc etc, and now we're probably going to have a little snow. SE Va has some of the gayest weather ever.

Halfway through the driveway I burned out the belt. I'm not crawling around putting a new belt on! Called for service. At least I got most of the stuff cleared at the end of the driveway.
If its the front auger belt, they suck to change. I cooked one a couple yrs ago from trying to go to fast for the auger. Learned my lesson, let the machine do its work.

Man I about to go crazy staying home so long! Should be able to get out tomorrow. Going to try make it to the Red River below Texoma and have a fire! Randy, @texomakid you been able to make it out yet? Man those boat houses taking a hit.

Yup. main belt to auger. I knew I was pushing it. And I should have went out Sunday afternoon to blow. Then again Monday. Got lazy. Paid the price. Landpro is picking it up tomorrow. This is a 275.00 lesson learned.

We got a decent snowfall, but it turned into freezing rain at the end. Icing wasn't heavy enough knock power out, but it made a big mess and did take my internet cable out. They fixed it this morning.

Still ice on the ground everywhere since it hasn't been above freezing. The road crews did a good job plowing and salting so the roads are, at least, passible.

I slipped on the ice and fell pretty hard last night going from the barn to my truck. Nothing broken, but I'm a little sore today.

We survived the storm fairly well with only some ice, but round 2 is headed our way this weekend with forecasts saying up to 7" of snow Saturday. We get snow like that maybe once every 10 years or longer, but with our weathermen's track record of guessing what the weather will be, I have my doubts. We'll see...
