Hey all, I have the MES 40 and want to do the Mailbox mod since the chip tray sucks..

Can I use a galvanized metal box or not?

Someone on here said not to but I cant imagine it gets so hot it would kill me...

beuler I really do not know if my mailbox is galvanized, after a few trays of pellets  the mailbox is coated with tar.You can just burn a tray to see how it gets coated. Hope that helps good luck

The pellet tray will not get hot enough for it to matter. But I bought a cheap steel mailbox for $19.99 at lowes. And the inside is coated well with smoke residue after a year or so of using it.

Yep. Using an AMNPS my mailbox barely even gets hot to the touch which is not hot enough to burn anything off. I have a cheap steel box that is painted inside and out.
