I have only used a offset smoker so my question is will it be big enough to cook for a big family

How big a family?

You can load between six to eight, 8-l0 lb pork butts in it.  Probably eight to ten racks of SLC spares if stacked vertically in a rib rack.  Two full packers.  If you need more than that, buy two!

I have 5 teenagers and always have people over and we do a tri tip a few racks of ribs a thing of scar belly wings

You should have no problem smoking enough for that sized family on a WSM 22.5.

Today I'm smoking two 16 lb turkeys for a party on one.

Buying the 22.5" WSM will be the best smoking purchase that you'll make for a very long time! It will handle your workload (smokeload?) with ease.

I was in my local store that sells webers and talked to the lady there and she said that they are having their holiday sale starting 11/15. I'll be putting money aside until.
