Look What This #$%^&*# $%^&*%# Did to The Bear’s Yard
I thought this was gonna stop!!
Bear Jr had his 6,000 Sq Ft Tower Shop Pole Barn down the driveway from my house for 16 years, and all kinds of trucks were going down the curved drive to his Pole Barn, mostly making deliveries. I used to watch the Warehouse, and unload all the trucks when they came in. Some of the stuff was valuable, like $300,000 per pallet, so I had to be a little careful unloading with the Fork Lift.
Then he bought a much bigger building for his shop in East Greenville (about 8 miles from here), with 32’ ceilings & 12,000 Sq Ft floor space, and a built in 10 Ton Crane.
I thought this would be Great, because I put up with the truck drivers trying to back down the driveway, and getting off & onto my Yard, sometimes really bad, but now no more deliveries here!!!
Most of the time they would at least apologize, but sometimes not.
I even had one guy borrow a rake & raked the few feet out that he wrecked & threw some of my seed on it. It was easy to rake, because I had just fixed it there, about a week earlier.
Well anyway a few weeks ago, Bear Jr had a personal delivery from CA. It came in a tractor trailer that was about 80’ long. Biggest one to ever come here, and Bear Jr didn’t know it was that big until it was too late, or he would have had him deliver it to another place & he could go pick it up on his trailer. Well this guy drove in head first & missed my 32’ wide entrance by about 12 feet, and then got off the other side for about 100’ before straightening it out before going down the hill, through the woods. Bear Jr ended up having to pull him 3 times with a chain & his Dodge Ram—Twice to get him turned around & back on the driveway, down at the shop, and then he pulled him all the way up the hill. But he got him back on the road, and we were rid of him!!
I lucked out this time, as I was able to fix most of My Yard by driving on the high spots with my Lawn Tractor when the wetness was just right. The one part looks pretty good now, and the other long spot should be fine when the grass fills back in. Bear Jr said if I can’t get it fixed that way, he’ll dig it out & redo it, and that I shouldn’t do any hand work on it.
I think it will be OK, and Bear Jr said it definitely won’t happen again.
Note: I didn't get on the Driver much, because he was very apologetic, and he looked like he was about ready to cry.
The pics below don’t show it that good, but it’ll give you some idea.
Bear
It's hard to see, but there are 3 Truck tire tracks, up to 5" Deep X 70' long:
Same as first Pic, but taken from the other end:
This Rut is about 100' long X about 2' to 3' off the other side of the Driveway:
Here you can see the depth of the cut:
Here he got back on the Drive, just before the Drive narrows between trees on both sides, going through the woods:
