Greetings all!

So, I've been reading the various posts on this site for a long time, but finally thought I would break down and actually officially join the community instead of just watching from the sidelines. That said, I wanted to say thanks in advance to everyone on this site. It has truly been a wealth of knowledge for me on all fronts of smoking and BBQ.

So enough about you, let's talk about me.

I love cooking with fire. Duh, right.

I have always enjoyed grilling the basics, but really only caught the smoking bug a few years ago. I started my adventure with smoking with a Char-Broil Santa Fe, doing some improvised offset cooking. Probably not the best tool for the job, but it was what I had at the time. Regardless, three years and dozens of briskets later, I have been very happy with what I have been able to do with it. The oohs and ahhs of friends and family have been very satisfying and have been all the fuel required to turn a hobby and curiosity into a full blown obsession.

Having succombed to the addiction that is cooking meat with fire and smoke, I finally broke down earlier this year and acquired my very first dedicated smoker. Nothing fancy by any means - a cheap $70 Brinkmann square vertical smoker - but it has allowed me to really try some different things and step my smoking up to a different level.

Speaking of the Brinkmann, I have really enjoyed reading all the various threads and suggestions about this smoker, and between the modifications I have already made to it and the ones I plan to make in the near future, I think that this relatively cheap hunk o' metal will serve me and my smoking needs very well for years to come.

In the meanwhile, I am very much looking forward to really putting my skills to the test. Maybe even entering a competition or two in the future. At the very least, posting some photos to Q-view.

So thanks again for all the help in the past, and thanks in advance for all the help in the future!
