Nice man! I just bought an old tombstone idealarc ac/dc. Playing with the idea of building a very small, possibly manual, log splitter myself.

yep i hope i get many years or projects out of this machine and maybe make a lil money on the side

right now yes im useing fluxcore .035 i plan on useing the bottle but i ran slap out of money buying this rig

it is pretty sweet 60% duty cycle i welded on some parts today for about 5 hours straight not even a hickup
out of the Lincoln i think its going to do just fine on a bad note the fluxcore is 80.00 for a 10lb spool
and shielded gas wire is 25.00 plus 18 to 20.00 to fill the bottle

Here is a thought..........Can you rent/lease the bottles in your area, that's a huge difference in wire cost.

yeah they rent the small bottles for $70.00 a year or you can buy one for $235.00

im really leaning towards buying a bottle but i need to save some cash up first

i can get 250gal propane tanks here for pretty cheap im thinking about building

a few smokers to offset the cost of the welder and equipment

Smokey Charlie, If you have one around, check at Home Depot for your welding wire. It sounds crazy, but I have found that they are the cheaper that the local welding supply houses are around here. It’s been a while, but if I remember right, I paid less than $30.00 for a 10lb spool of .030 flux core welding. They carry all types of wire some too, just a thought….Hope it helps SB

I lease my gas here at a welding supply store but I seen tractor supply has started carrying gas also.

make sure and check which polarity to use, you may need to change it if you switch to a shielding gas.  I cant remember if it is dcep or dcen, but it will be opposite.

There's some really cool splitters on You Tube if you do a search.  I ordered the info from DR, but I can't afford one of theirs right now.  Guess I'll buy a new maul!

hey bubbonehead yeah still working on it tho it seems like its in slow motion i have had alot of projects come with spring workin on cars trucks and mowers
also put up a 1 acre bob wire fence built a chicken coop cut a crap load of trees down 2 big ones that were dead in my back yard
and prolly 50 small pines about 4 to 6 inch at the trunk man its been a busy spring
ya know the honey do list im still getting parts too
got a weld on 2 inch ball hitch a lil fold up jack with a wheel on it some hydraulic parts a filler neck for the tank

i need to get on it

i have been thinking about just trying to get one or 2 things done to it each day so ill at least make some progress
the last thing i did was put an axle under it
i have a truck project happening this weekend im trying to buy a f350 4x4 and im going to swap the dana 60 front axle out of it into my f250 4x4
i have the truck lined up to go look at and hopefully buy

the welder is working good to man i use that thing every time im in the shop for something
