Getting the trailer loaded up for the annual family pig roast this weekend. I'm taking my Oklahoma Joe to cook chickens and sides in and we will be firing up the ol Mans new pig smoker. He has decided that he doesn't like doin without the cracklins so he is cooking half the pig on the ol charcoal pit while I'm gonna skin my half and rub it down and cook it low and slow in the new smoker. As of right now the plan is to add 4 whole packers to the smoker along with the half pig. Sounds like a showdown to me. I'd take a nice homemade rub bark over cracklins any day myself. Told him we could cook up cracklins without havin to cook one whole side of pig. But I learned a long time ago not to argue with your Dad. Looks like a bunch of fun. I'll take plenty of pics and get back with the forum next week.

I'm sure it will all boil over, with everyone having a smile with Q on their lips. Give it up for Dad.

Sounds like you are in for some fun PignIt...

I'm pickin up a case of those chickens from Sams Club that Ron has been talkin about. They wouldn't sell me one so I've been waitin for a feast to buy a case for. Doin up a mess of moinkers.... lots of ABTs and maybe a few fatteeeez. Takin the guitar for some pickin. It's all good.

Boy, you will be in heaven Dave.

Have fun my friend.

Smart lesson learned there PignIt. Learned that one meownself. When I was a much younger man, I'd argue my point until I was blue in the face and then one day it dawned upon me to just do things my way and if Dad though my way was better, he'd eventually ask me about it or figure it out on his own.

Cherish the moments that you can share with him. I lost my Dad five years ago and I still find myself wanting to turn to him for advice. . . he is greatly missed in my world.

Man it sounds like a great time with family and then you also get to eat some really good grub too. Thats gonna be fun and take it easy on the dad teach me alittle at atime and he'll think he came up with the idea. Have a great time and please dont forget some Qview.

Can't beat that kind of get together! Smoker in tow, guitar in hand, singing, few pops and family... Wow! My kind of party.
