At one time Did LEM make a stuffer that came with plastic gears ? If so was it the "CRAFTSMAN" model ? They sell a mighty bite now that has metal gears. A buddy with no internet access has an offer for the Craftsman model for 50 bucks and the price sounds good but I don't know about the quality . The picture of it appears to have black plastic gears.

I looked around and found out that the Craftsmen series is the model 606 and it does have metal gears. It looks different that the Mighty Bite that they currently market and it has a 1 year warranty vs a 2 year warranty for the later. Is Anything else different that I can't see ?

Yes LEM did make a stuffer with black plastic gears. I think they still have them.

If you lube the o-ring, piston and cylinder, you won't have a problem... I've been using my Grizzly stuffer with white plastic gears for 10+ years... I lube it with Crisco..

The difference may be that the 606 has exposed gears vs the mighty bite with enclosed gears. I know they had a metal geared one where the gears were exposed, but not sure of the model.

I've had a Gander Mountain/LEM for about 5 years with the plastic gears (white) and haven't had any issues. I'm not making hundreds of pounds of snack sticks, though.
I use a food safe silicone spray for lube.
