Lem Casings???

I see that Lem is having a sale on their Collagen casings, but I thought I seen somewhere here that someone said they were not a very good casing? Did a search but could not find that. Just now wondering if I was day dreaming or what. I have bought casing from other manufactures but not lem that I recall. Can someone let me know their exprerience with the Casings from Lem.

I have Lem stuffer and seasonings from them just not collagen casings (I think I got some Fiborous ones on one time. and they were fine)

I have not used them, but I would think they would be fine...... I've read that several people had issues with the natural casings....... But I have not used them either....... Sorry I don't really know how munh help I am today....... ShoneyBoy

The only edible collagen casings I have used are from Butcher-Packer... they are very good casings...

Like Shoneyboy said. The natural casings are all short pieces, hard to work with and blow out easy. The collagen casings are good.

If you buy the small home packs they are short but I always buy the sheep casings in a hank and they are all nice and long. Just made a small 5# batch of venison sticks for a gift and I was almost able to get the entire amount into one long piece. Once you find a good supplier you'll be amazed at how much better your sticks will be.

 

Talking about LEM casings. I get mine from a butcher shop.

Good evening, Driedstick, I have used LEM collagen casings and I probably should not say anything, but I was very disappointed in them. I have talked with one of my sons that bought and tried them and he didn't like them either.

we both had bought the LEM hot stick snack stick seasoning kits and they came with 21MM collagen casings. we both made our snack sticks independent of each other. We both had the same complaint, The casings didn't shrink up with the meat and stayed rather soggy.

It was more appealing to just peel the casing off before eating the stick. I have had 1 caddy of 40 sticks of collagen casing from Butcher N Packer and am working on my second caddy of 40 sticks of casings from B N P and am 100% please with them. 40 sticks of casings will stuff approx 400 pounds of meat, so I am speaking from experience.

My advice is to order up your collagen casings from Butcher N packer.

I have also been using the LEM casings and been having the same issues with the casing not shrinking down and staying kinda rubbery. I just placed an order with Butcher and Packer for their stick casings.

Uh oh....  I've never used LEM casing before and picked up a LEM 3/8" stuffer tube at Bass Pro this week.  I also picked up two small packs of their casings, a double stick pack of 19mm and a single stick pack of 32mm.  I was out and they were right next to the stuffer tube and on sale which is why I bought them. Oh well, at least it's not a whole case of them.

For what it's worth, the 3/8 LEM stainless steel stuffer tube fits the Kitchener 5 pound stuffer just fine.  LEM seems to always be out of stock on their website, but Bass Pro had a whole rack of them the other day when I stopped in.  So if you are looking for a 3/8" tube, and have a local Bass Pro or Cabela's you might want to check there if LEM is out of stock at the LEM website.

I made some snack sticks using some sheep casing a few weeks back and have been very pleased...... I don't think I'll be using collagen casings anytime soon again........ShoneyBoy

Thanks everyone you all just saved me a bunch of money Butcher Packer here I come sounds like it would not be worth it even with coupon I will use it on something else
