Maybe all the lead tainted venison I have eaten is why I am; the way I am..... So be it. I am not changing a thing I do; deer rifle opener is the most important holiday of the year to me. I am 43 years old and still wake up opener morning like a 5 year old does to open Christmas presents.....I just don't act like it around the hunting party (it's a guy thing !!!).
I say process your own venison, keep it clean and if it doesn't look or smell right, throw it. Much better than bringing in to have it "professionally" processed by a business that has 3 employees and hundreds of deer to go through in a short period of time during their busiest time of the year. Are you really getting back the venison from the deer you brought in?
There is alot of pride in being able to say you made the rifle cartridge yourself, shot the deer yourself, processed the deer yourself, made the sausage yourself, smoked the sausage yourself and that slice of summer sausage you are chewing on was made by yourself.
