Had a rack of babybacks in the freezer unused from a larger meal I cooked a few months back. Decided to put them on today. Rode my bike to Publix this morning with my daughter (7) to pick up some stuff for sides, walked past the spice aisle. Normally make my own rubs but said screw it and bought a store bought one.

Totally lazy smoke...mustard, store bought rub, and a little over 6 hours naked at 225 on the Masterbuilt with lump charcoal. Sauced around hour 5.

Not a bad meal for almost no effort.

Looks delicious. I mostly make my own rubs as well, but don't knock store bought rubs too hard. Kinders brown sugar rub is one I use on ribs when I'm lazy, and it's close to what I'd make myself.

And it wouldn't take much effort for me chow down on a bone or 😁.
Look mighty good and I've bought all of the supplies to start making rubs, copied and printed recipes but still haven't.
But that's changing in the very near future!

Jeff's original is one of my go to recipes, mainly for pork, but have used it on poultry with good results, as well, but I can come close with off the shelf store bought. His Texas rub is awesome on brisket, chuck, and just beef in general. Well worth the time spent making it up and well worth paying for the recipe. It's a fairly simple rub, but he has the proportions of each ingredient pretty much nailed for my tastes.

Same here … I always have both of those on hand and in shakers (ball jars with drilled lids). I have a hard time finding commercial rubs that aren’t too salt-forward (for both taste and health) or too sugar heavy (for hotter temp cooks).
Gave my SIL a cupboard full of commercial rubs and have settled on my homemade or Jeff’s two.
