Thought be fun to have a thread where we all share what we’ve done or are planning to cool this labour day long weekend.
Today I’ve got some burnt ends going with a few racks of ribs then planning on doing some jerky once the burnt ends are done.

went to the Latin market looking for a brisket point for burnt ends. they all sucked today, but these beef ribs jumped in my buggy on the way by. just gonna SPG them and maybe a rib rub dusting when almost done. Labor day cook.

Nice. those look meatier than most I've seen lately. My Kroger has cryovac packaged beef ribs that are sliced in half lengthwise, making two narrow racks. I have to give those a try.

Looking good everybody!
I worked 12hr shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So it was freezer fix'ins for me.

My Labor day tradition is to work. I'll be working on some drawings in my office today. I haven't had a regular job where you show up at a facility every day in over 20 years. I have worked weekends and holidays off and on for much of that time, but I can have a random weekday for myself while everyone else is working. 22 years self-employed and now a remote worker for a company 80 miles away.

I do remember what it was like to have two weeks of vacation and something like 7 holidays though (never was a government worker so that was it). My life based around that time off, having to shop and do stuff when everyone else was...the crowds, etc.

Food for the wife and I this evening will be grilled brats (already grilled, I buy them in bulk, grill them all at once and foodsaver them in to the freezer) and a leftover excellent Mediterranean pasta salad with kale and sun-dried tomatoes. So, while I'll be legitimately working today, dinner will be no work at all!

Had a couple of Birthdays to celebrate aside from it being Labor Day Weekend. The M-I-L asked for pulled pork (pictured) and I chose a tri-tip roast. I forgot to snap a photo of the tri-tip, was in a hurry to get everything packed up in the cooler to transport over to my in-laws. Both tasted absolutely amazing! It was my second cook with the new ThermoWorks Signal and Billows fan, and I'm really liking it....

Saturday we had a small group of friends, 4, for the 2nd time in 4 years, lol. I was going to make Brisket, but ran out of time for the prep etc. We had Steaks instead, NY Strips for the Men, and Filets for the Gals. Wife made her "Special" potatoes, biscuits and broccoli. Everything came out perfect and all enjoyed. Sorry no pics, totally forgot while having "fun".
Yesterday just we 2, Hamburgers and salads.
Today doing Spare Ribs. I'll take pics and post tonight. Everything posted looks great, glad all are having good times.

Last night I did a London Broil that was in the freezer for a while, reverse sear a few hours on the smoker then on to my Weber gas grill as hot as I could get it. Came out really good and the left overs made a great sandwich for lunch a few hours ago. Next up, some wings, deciding betweeen vortex/kettle or smoker!
