Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Hello Kiwi Cooker and welcome to the forums!  There are a number of members who have made conversions of their smokers to gas fueled.  You might get better response to that question if you post it in the propane smokers forum or the smoker builds forum.  Or you can do a search for practically anything by typing your search criteria in the search bar at the top of the page.  I typed in a search for "gas conversion" and got these results:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/newsearch?search=gas+conversion

I hope that helps get you started.  Good luck!  Be sure to let us know how it goes, and just ask when you have more questions.
