First Post to the forums but have been a reader for 5 or so years.  Looking to get some of your takes on the Kingsford briqs that have mesquite or hickory smoke in them. I know most are a loyal to lump or Kingsford blue with wood but has anyone used these in combo with other woods (apple, cherry) and had success or should I just stick with the tried and true blue?

Appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Todd

Hello Bajatodd - I've used the flavored Kingsford on my grill but never in my smoker - it's electric. It was ok but we just stick with Kingsford Blue.

I see this is your first post, how about swinging by Roll Call and introducing yourself so we can give you a proper SMF Welcome?

Would you also update your profile to include a location? It helps folks when answering questions to know what part of the world you are in.

Thanks!

Thats what I figured. it's more aimed at the grilling audience and not for long smokes. I heeded your words and posted over in the Roll Call Forum.

Thanks,

T

Stick with Kingsford Blue Bag, and just add wood chunks. The "flavored" stuff burns wierd and seems to produce more ash.
