I've never seen this before and found it yesterday half price at Safeway. Just curious if anyone has used it and how well it worked.

Thanks

Yes, use them with great success.  You may find them cheaper at your nearest COSTCO.  When in stock, they usually carry a nice package of two for a very reasonable price.  I know this because each summer I visit my adult children who live in Centennial and Parker and visit their MANY Costco's to get my charcoal since I usually can't find any lump to use.

Thanks for the answers guys. I picked this one up for $5 on clearance thinking to give it a try.

Dave, We've been having absolutely gorgeous weather here this Spring and we had a fairly easy Winter, but we'll pay for it with burn bans etc if we don't get some moisture soon. I use Costco and if boyfriend likes it, I'll get it there.

Thats the only charcoal I have ever had to add coals to on my WSM when cooking butts. It definately burns faster that KB or Chubbs.

If we are all about Low and Slow...What type of Competition is Hot and Fast Charcoal designed for?...JJ

Spare me the semantics game.......................  Leave it at Kingsford Comp is much better than most of the cow excrement offered out there.  I like to use lump when available but when not available, you use what you got available.

I'm not messing with you! Geez you are touchy today! I really want to know what advantage there is to using a Faster/Hotter burning Kingsford over Regular Kingsford if guys with WSM's are using the Minion Method for a long low and slow burn...JJ

From what I've read the only additives are a starch binder and borax as a mold release agent. I think the main advantage is the lack of "off flavors" often attributed to the blue bag stuff.

Many here on the board swear by lump, which is much hotter and faster than just about any briquette, for many of the same reasons.

**I've not used the Kingsford comp, so have no real world data to contribute. Just going on what I've read here and elsewhere.
