Hello everyone. I just signed up here. I come on fairly often and look around but decided to sign up basically because I have an issue. I have had several propane smokers that you get in the big box stores and have used them very successfully. However after my last one finally rusted away I decided to make one from ideas/designs I have seen on here.
The one I built has the fire box seperated from the smoke chamber by 6" black stove pipe. It came out beautifully but I'm having issues. At first I could not get it to draw smoke, but then I added a chimney and that seemed to have fixed it. Now I have smoke but no heat. I'm thinking my pipe is sitting too low in the fire chamber. I will post some pics when I get home tonight and maybe you all can help. Thanks

Welcome to the site, glad you decided to graduate from lurker to participant. I'm not a builder but someone who is will chime in soon.

Chris

I uploaded an image of the smoker. It's the only one I have currently on my phone. The smoke pipe sits on the first course of bricks of the fire box. Is that too low? Also there is a chimney I added since this picture. It's a inch stove pipe coming out the back and it is about 2 feet high.

Thats supposed to be a 4 inch stove pipe for the chimney. I was sitting in the doctors office when I posted that. I'm surprised thats all that was wrong with it. Thank you all for your replies and thanks for the welcome.
