Hey,

Just joined the forum after coming across it while searching for some smoker info on google.  Love all the information I've read so far, only being here a couple days.

I'm from Ottawa, ON in Canada so I'm curious as to how much I'll be able to smoke in the winter time with the temperatures dropping so low.  I'm thinking it'll be hard to maintain 250-275 for long periods of time.

Just ordered my first smoker, a Dynaglo vertical off-set smoker, to learn the basics then as I get better, I plan on upgrading to a bigger off-set smoker or moving towards a pellet smoker.

Glad to be here and excited to meet lots of people and learn lots too.

Welcome Chris.  I'm fairly new as well but as you found the site and all the valuable info.  As for smoking year round it is absolutely possible.  I'm from Alaska and smoke and grill year round.  Couple weeks ago I smoked a pork shoulder and it was -9F when I put it in.  You do have to take the cold into account but there are ways around it.

I have a SmokinTex 1400 electric that I converted to a PID for temp control and I'm in the process of building a UDS(Ugly Drum Smoker).

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a beautiful chilly and sunny day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.         Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
