I've read a few stories lately related to dishes requested by death row inmates. Some are strange - while others are pretty extravagant. So I was thinking what would I request if I was in their situation.

So here's my question:
Imagine if you were on death row. What would your last meal request be?

Chris

Something that takes weeks to brine....gives me a few more days! Maybe a hundred year old egg. Otherwise Pulled pork with LOTS of bark, Mac&Cheese, Baked Okra, a bottle of Opus One and Caesar salad. (Just for something healthy):emoji_wink:

Roast beef, slowly smoked to a nice medium. A great big bowl of Yorkshire Pudding, and gravey from the beef drippings. Since I'm about to be fried, no veggies--they'd just take up valuable room on the plate. Followed by a BIG slab of Sweet Potato Pie topped with cinnamon whipped cream.

A Dozen Escarcot, with a Crusty Baguette.
A Half Dozen Cajun Fried Frogs Legs, with Fried Green Tomatoes and a Remolade dipping sauce.
A Kobe Filet Rossini...A Rare Kobe A5 Filet on a thick slice of Fresh Bread, topped with a slab of Medium Foie Gras and a rich Madeira Sauce...JJ

a big ole plate of sea scallops with some smoked ribs, now that's a meal I can go to death row for! now you got me thinking:emoji_astonished:

Well, I have (as my grandmother used to say) "the diabetes". So I would request a box each of Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls and Oatmeal Pies, a (whole) pumpkin pie with whipped cream, a dozen home-made ranger cookies, A real coke (make it a six pack) with all the sugar in it, and for desert, a box of frosted flakes and milk.

5 lbs of boiled crawfish as an appetizer, a cup of turtle soup, a bowl of chicken/andouille gumbo, fried red fish, and for dessert a big slice of hot pecan pie with a tall glass of ice cold milk and a big scoop of Blue Belle Homemade Vanilla ice cream on the side.
That's what I'm talking about.

And you get a surprised pardon on the last bite .

Two bone-in beef short ribs (smoked on a stick burner) with roasted yellow squash slices, an order of salmon belly sashimi with avocado slices, and served with a pint of Old Rasputin. For dessert, a chocolate creme brulee served with a glass of 40 year port.

Last meal - lets push limits on the endangered list. Note: I do not condone eating endangered species, but we are talking hypotheticals here. And if I land myself on death row, I'm probably not the same upstanding person I am today.

Baby rhino chili verde
Stuffed spotted owl (angel wings)
Grilled Giant panda heart with chimichurri sauce
Seared Polar bear rib eye
Snow leopard laab
And a Sasquatch - spit roasted whole over an open fire.

I've always heard bigfoot over an open fire was pretty tasty with the right marinade!

Fried Abalone with lots of fresh lemon wedges and tartar sauce, garlic pesto on bow tie pasta, garden salad, with a loaf of excellent sourdough bread, and homemade butter, with Grandma's cannoli.
After that meal I'd be ready to die, well maybe after a nice cup or two of Espresso, and some tiramisu to fill the sweet pocket and a nice dip of fresh Cope for the road trip south.

You forgot the fried CA Condor and northern red legged frog legs, and the red spotted newt.

Yeah, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about the Blue Belle Vanilla ice cream being opened and licked. Considering the situation.:emoji_astonished::emoji_wink::emoji_laughing:

For me, I would choose a Maine lobster roll, a bowl of New England clam chowder. A couple of smoked herrings from Nova Scotia, and a quart of Bensies french fries.
