Hi everybody just joined the forum, have a question for anyone that has or still the owns the Masterbuilt Elete 40”. Worked fine last time I used it, I take care of it and clean it every time I use it. Went to use it a couple days ago and wouldn’t turn on or anything. No power to control board, any suggestion , thanks in advance.

Welcome from KC.
If the wall outlet is hot, there may be a reset button that needs reset.
Just a thought.

Welcome from Ga. You may have an internal problem. The best person is tallbm tallbm He knows all of the methods to test things. I'm lucky in that I haven't had a problem with my MES since I got it 7 years ago.
Let us know ho it goes. Reach out to tallbm tallbm

Hi there and welcome!

It could be a few different things but sounds like your top control panel is simply busted. You can try and disconnect and reconnect it to see if it works.
If not then it could be a problem anywhere from the plug wiring to the hidden circuit board then to the control panel.

Personally if that didnt work I would recommend you seriously consider getting an Auber PID controller and doing the simple rewire (cut ends of 4 wires and splice/wirenut to make 2 wires) and then use the Auber PID Controller to control your smoker.
A PID controller makes an MES perform 10X better then it ever did brand new and it will hold temps within 1-3 degrees of your set temp. Also it always hits your set temp where most MES units fail to reach 275F top temp when you want it too and the MES temp probes are always off. The only down side is that an Auber PID controller will run you $150 but that is less than what you would pay for a brand new smoker AND again this thing turns your MES into the best electric smoker you could ever possibly have short of custom engineering one for yourself :)

If you just want to troubleshoot things you can check the following but know that you may not be able to get parts to replace the circuit board or top controller so again, back to the PID controller.
On the underside of the smoker there is a panel that often has rivets. If you drill out the rivets it shows you the controller board. You fasten the cover back on with self taping sheet metal screws.
Anyhow, you can open that panel and a 2nd one underneath where the cord runs into the smoker if needed. Check that the cord wiring is running into the circuit board down there and that there are no obvious issues with the board or connectors and that will give some more info.

I hope this info helps :)
