Nice work farmer. Screws don’t have much shear strength, I would use a hardened pin or a shear pin from the hardware store though. But pretty simple fix.
Maybe a tri tip this week. Wife made sketti for supperNow....where's the beef???? LOL!!!
Great fast fix Adam. I've debated a cotter key or bolt and decided a bolt is better.
My kids (not related) that used to live across the street came to me in panic as the auger bolt sheared. Well Dad across the street had a couple in the bin to get him up and cooking.
His Cabelas re branded Pit boss is a shear pin eater.
No, but breaking stuff gives you a good excuse for having a few extra beers while fixing it.You know Adam, you don't have to break stuff to have an excuse to drink a few beers!
But glad ya got it running again!

Yeah, same here. You learn to be a mechanic, welder, and a whole lot more as a farmer.I have a farm, stuff is always breaking.
My former kid across the street has it down to a 5 minute replacement.I will take it apart again and use a bolt. It did take about 3 hours to tear it apart and put it back together . It will be quicker next time
Lowes carries some shear pins / bolts . By the lawn mowers and snow blowers .I have a farm, stuff is always breaking.
