IOWA!!
?? When it's coming from a laptop. Got a frantic call yesterday from a coworker, he wanted my assistace NOW. so jump in the truck, drive 15 miles to where he is, walk into the Electrical room and he is white, laptop sizzleing a thin blue smoke. he told me the entire progam for the job was on there and not sure how much got loaded on the the PLC,sooo, i hall tail out of there with the laptop,on the phone with a tech adviser that is a computer geek that has geek freinds. happy to say that they was able to suck the program out of it and coworker and i got it reloaded this morning.

The entire time all i could think was this is NOT desireable TBS, and it stunk very much bad.

And...It'll give an AWFUL taste to any food unfortunate enough to have been smoked in it too!!...

Bingo! devices called out in a "DIP package" It all got crazy for me with the 4 sided arrangements of the things...used to do a bit of board design. Sheesh...talk about goin' blind and headaches! Then the multi-layer stuff. Gave it up for health reasons...LOL

I always hate when someone brings me a computer in that condition and says.."can you 'fix' it?" Just smile and ask how much they wanna spend. But on the other hand might try using that smoke for the olive in your martini's - lots of martini's

Not sure that we could have put a price on that progam they salvaged, it was almost a career adjustment for some of the people involved, and all ended well.
