It my turn for the "is this safe to eat" question...

When I moved all the food from the old refer, to second refer, back to new refer. I left one bag of red and one bag of green chili out for probably 24 hours. It was frozen to start and left in a room that is probably 50-55 degrees.

I found it last night and refroze it. Toss it or eat it???

Thoughts?

Dave, let me tell you a tale from my younger, and hopefully dumber, days.

Back in college my 2 room mates and I cooked a big pot of chili and for some reason never refrigerated it. It sat on the kitchen counter, in 70ish temps, for 3 or 4 days as we ate it.
Two of us are still around about 50 years later and the third died in his 40's from complications of diabetes. None of us suffered any ill effects in the days following this stupid act. Maybe the beer or other alcohol we probably consumed saved us.

Oh the college days...we left pizza out till it was gone all the time. But one time while hung over I was having pizza breakfast and noticed movement on the pie...covered in tiny red ants. No ill affects beside being grossed out.

I kinda think the chili is ok...

I would guess being frozen to start with then in a 50 ish degree room, it's fine.
But to make you feel better... we bought some lamb as we're not sure if we like it. Put it in freezer until we were ready to try it. Happened to remove it from freezer to get some other food out of freezer, guess what didn't get put back in the freezer! Found it like three days later... still don't know if we like lamb!

Oh man, I would so made at myself. I got some home ground burgers out one morning before we went to hit the slopes. I wanted to hurry up the thaw for an hour or two on the counter before tossing in the refer for the day... Came home to very room temp burgers. Had to toss them. I beat myself up on that one for a while.
