Is it necessary?

I've got four butts on my Brinkman electric bullet. My instructions say to spritz every hour and to rotate racks half way thru the smoke. I lose so much heat when I open the smoker I am wondering if it is really necessary to open it up so often?

Dizzy, morning....  Rotating would be good if you wanted them all done at the same time.... and cooked evenly from end/end or side/side...

about spritzing.... some do... some don't....  Can you relate to other cooking experiences, on the Bullet, that will help you decide ??

Yep you'll lose heat, but they will probably cook more evenly and closer to getting done together if you rotate.
I agree - I am not a fan of the spritzer so for me it would only be opened once to rotate

Forgive my novice-ness,

but wouldn't you also allow oxygen in to the coals which would cause a temp spike and neutralize some of the heat lose?

I don't seem to loose too much heat on my 22.5 Weber kettle but I use a lot of water to prevent overheating. The Weber is still small at 22.5" dia and most likely regains wha heat it lost quickly.
I'm guessing that maybe with larger units the larger volumn of lost hot air may e harder to regain with the same temp output from the coals.

I'm guessing 'cause I'm a Noo-Bee. It's what we do-be.
