I started my coal stove tonight. Wife was cold.
MN house is all electric heat. Wife can put on a sweatshirt and wrap up in an blanket and be happy
BUT
She will not tolerate a cold toilet seat. So nice to close the bathroom door and turn on the baseboard

I don't remember what year it was, but a 26 inch snow over night pretty much shut everything down around here for a couple weeks!

The National Guard was ferrying medical personnel from Richmond to Lexington, where the hospitals they worked in were, in humvees for a few weeks
I lived in Evansville IN back in the early 80's
I think it was 1983 we got a couple feet of snow. I had a Subaru station wagon and didn't have any problem getting around. I gave my boss a ride to work and after crawling through the third drift and he commented on 4wd, I realized I hadn't even kicked in the rear wheel drive.

I'll admit, I did dig my long johns out the other day... standing outside, on a cloudy, windy, misty day watching excavator dig a hole for a basement so I wasn't doing any work. Funny thing is what we think is cold now, come mid winter will feel like a pretty nice day. Coldest I remember having is -40 F wind chill... which really sucked because the radio announcer mentioned it just before I had to get out of my truck and do some work!

I been wearing my thermal underwear tops for the last week or week and a half. Not bib weather yet but getting cool enough to need some insulation on top.

I enjoy my fireplace but I hate cold weather…. I would love to live in Florida but do enjoy the milder Georgia summer heat.

Way ahead of you. Pulled them 2-1/2 weeks ago. Go from almost a week's delay due to heat to frost watch. Sugar beets are a fickle perishable crop to harvest for stockpile.
